Overview

Experience Lake Titicaca from a completely different perspective with this Lake Titicaca Kayak Tour, an unforgettable adventure that combines paddling, breathtaking scenery, and authentic cultural encounters.

The tour starts with a scenic boat ride to the Capachica Peninsula, arriving at Llachon, widely considered one of the most beautiful spots on Lake Titicaca thanks to its sweeping panoramic views.

After a full safety briefing and basic kayaking instructions from your guide, you'll paddle across 10 kilometers of open water from the tip of the Capachica Peninsula toward Taquile Island. No previous kayaking experience is required, just a good level of physical fitness.

On Taquile Island, you'll hike up to a local home for a traditional lunch and a firsthand look at the island's distinctive traditional clothing and customs.

The tour continues to one of the lake's best-kept secrets: Uros Ccapi, a remote and far less visited cluster of floating islands considered among the most authentic in the region, home to descendants of one of South America's oldest cultures. An optional traditional reed boat ride can also be arranged here.

This Lake Titicaca Kayak Tour is the perfect choice for travelers seeking an active, immersive way to discover the natural beauty and living traditions of Lake Titicaca.

Itinerary

visit Uros & Kayak from Llachon to Taquile

This Lake Titicaca Kayak Tour begins at 7:00 AM with hotel pickup in Puno, followed by a transfer to the port for a 7:30 AM departure by motorboat toward the Capachica Peninsula. After about an hour of navigation, we arrive at Llachon, one of the most scenic spots on Lake Titicaca, where the kayaking adventure truly begins. Here, your guide will provide a full safety briefing along with basic paddling and kayaking instructions, helping you get properly set up with your kayak and flotation device — please let your guide know of any medical conditions beforehand.
Around 8:45 AM, we set off paddling from the tip of the Capachica Peninsula toward Taquile Island, covering roughly 10 kilometers across the lake's calm, open waters, with stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains in the distance. Along the way, we'll take a few stops to rest and enjoy some drinks before reaching Taquile Island, where we'll hike up to a local home for a traditional lunch and learn about the island's distinctive traditional clothing and customs directly from our guide.
After visiting Taquile Island, the Lake Titicaca Kayak Tour continues to a remote and rarely visited corner of the lake: Uros Ccapi, considered among the most authentic floating islands still in existence, far less commercialized than other Uros communities and home to descendants of one of South America's earliest cultures. An optional traditional reed boat ride can also be arranged here. The tour wraps up with the return journey to Puno, arriving back at the port by 5:00 PM.
