Lake Titicaca Tour from Cusco 3 Days

(3 reviews)

Overview

The Lake Titicaca Tour from Cusco 3 Days connects two of southern Peru's most iconic destinations: the ancient Inca capital and the Altiplano highlands surrounding Lake Titicaca. According to Inca mythology, the lake was the birthplace of their civilization, the sacred point of origin from which the founders of Cusco emerged.
Straddling the border between Peru and Bolivia, Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world and one of South America's most striking geological features. Its shores hold countless archaeological sites and living traditions that have endured for centuries, offering a very different landscape and culture from the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu.
This Lake Titicaca Tour from Cusco 3 Days combines an overland journey through the Andes with two full days around Puno, including a boat excursion to the floating islands of the Uros and the traditional community of Taquile. It's built for travelers who want to see the Altiplano properly rather than just passing through on the way to Bolivia or back to Lima.

The journey continues to Raqchi Temple, the tallest known Inca-era construction in the region, followed by a buffet lunch near the town of Sicuani. From there, the bus climbs to La Raya pass, the highest point of the route, before descending into the highlands and stopping at the Pukará Museum.
By approximately 5:00 pm, the group arrives in Puno, where a representative meets you at the bus terminal for transfer to your hotel, along with a detailed briefing and help with luggage and check-in. In the evening, there's time to explore downtown Puno and its main pedestrian street, lined with restaurants, banks and ATMs.

Day 2: Lake Titicaca (Uros & Taquile)

Day two starts at 6:45 am with transfer to the pier, followed by a motor boat ride to the Uros floating islands, built entirely from reeds by a community descended from one of South America's oldest ethnic groups. Walking on the islands feels unusually soft underfoot, and there's time to see local homes and meet residents before continuing on.
After roughly two and a half hours of further navigation across open water, the boat reaches Taquile Island, where a 45-minute uphill walk leads to the main village. There, travelers can visit a communal cooperative known for high-quality handwoven textiles, with sweeping lake views along the way.
By 2:30 pm, the boat departs back toward Puno, arriving around 5:30 pm, where the group is transferred once again to their hotel for a second night's rest.

  • Includes: transfer from your hotel to the harbor and back, entrance fees, professional bilingual guide, double room at a three-star hotel.
  • Excludes: lunch, drinks, optional reed boat ride in Uros.
