Colca canyon trek itinerary

Day 1 – Bus from Puno to Chivay at Colca Valley

The Colca canyon trek starts at 06:15 we transfer you to the bus terminal to aboard the Bus to Chivay and travel by the endless highland plains covered by “Ichu” a type of straw adapted to high altitudes. Arrival to Chivay city. Transfer to your elected hotel. You can have lunch at the hotel or at some of the restaurants at the main square. At 16:00 our guide will pick us up to enjoy a deserved relaxation at the thermal waters of la Calera, recommended bringing swimming suit, but can be rented At la Calera. By night dinner accompanied with a folkloric show.

Day 2 – Sangalle

Pick up at your elected hotel and then continue the trip to the village of Cabanaconde where we will start the descent to the base of the Colca Canyon trek, in our journey we will have different spectacular views of the canyon, crossing the bridge arriving to the town of San Juan de Chuccho where we can take a break and have lunch enjoying the beauty of the mountains, in a restaurant belonging to the families of the people, we will continue our journey towards Cosnihua, which is about an outstanding way one hour and then, by a flatter path to Malata village and end our tour in Sangalle (Oasis), a beautiful place located between the mountains and the canyon where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in one place.

We will spend the night in cabins (basic)

Day 3 – Sangalle / Cabanaconde / Arequipa

4:30 a.m. the ascent starts, it is a very steep and winding road, but after 3 hours we will have the satisfaction of completing this beautiful journey.

Breakfast may be taken at a local restaurant, and then take our mobility and go to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, where you have one of the most beautiful views of the Colca Canyon and where normally you can see the impressive flight of the condors Return to Chivay and then continue to Arequipa.
